Atheist answer,please: If God exists, why cannot we see him?

Before you assert that scientific unknowns are surely the work of God can you define this entity "God" in a manner we can all at least agree upon? Everybody seems to just knee-jerk speak of this "God" without explaining Him/It/Her... until then you mind as well call it Fridzerdarny.
